Nick Hullegie

Nick Hullegie (Arhem 1971) mainly produces sculptural work but also often engages in two-dimensional expressions. As a conceptual artist he pours his ideas into his works in a very concentrated form. This results in carefully constructed images wherein the abstraction of time, licht and space confront the daily object.

By reconstructing or reversing reality Nick creates a strangeness in the common object. By forcing minimal changes upon his subject matter he succeeds in revealing the invisible and leaves the spectators always with a smile.

The proportion between line and space is most important in his drawings, which are made with fineliner. The objects don’t only take space but also leave space: space for emptiness, silence and absence and always maintain a direct relation with their environment.

Nick has exhibited extensively in various countries and his work has been acquired by public funds and private collectors.

His recent highlight exhibitions have been in the Museum for Modern Art in Arnhem, The Netherlands (2014), FLUT Quartair The Hague, The Netherlands (2012), Kunstenfestival Watou, Belgium (2012) and Pop Art at NICC Anwerpen, Belgium (2010).
