Diego Pujal

Diego Pujal was born in Buenos Aires in 1971 and graduated at the school of visual arts there. He lives in Barcelona since 2002.

His work explores the codes of the pictorial language, and is an investigation of its own condition. The paintings of Diego Pujal emerge like a difficult to determine presence, a visual mystery in which the used medium participates and influences the mensage we are trying to access. They question the idea of a significant independent from its medium.

Diego Pujal was resident in Hangar, Center of Production in Barcelona and has received various prizes, amongst which the Tapiró Prize for Painting from the Museum of Mordern Art in Tarragona, the Adquisition Prize of the Provicial Council of Alicante and the Special Prize of the Jury of the Focus Abengoa Fundation.

Some of the collections his work can be found in are: Piramidón, Centre d'Art Contemporani in Barcelona; the Fundación Focus Abengoa in Seville; the Diputación Provincial de Alicante; the Museum of Modern Art in Tarragona and the Irureta Museum in Tilcara, Argentina.
