Cristina del Campo
Cristina del Campo was born in Cantabria, Spain in 1981. In 2004 she graduated at the Fine Arts Department from the University of Salamanca, and in 2007 she obtained her Phd from the University Complutense of Madrid.
Her work is focused on painting as a discipline and elements of daily life as a recurrent theme. She investigates a type of contemporary still life and tries to reinvent it in a personal way through observation and analysis of the ordinary object. These objects are then complemented by architectural structures that add a extra dimension and play with scale to the images.
For works she selects objects and structures that would usually escape our attention in daily life and applying a kind of close up perspective she presents them isolated from their environment, out of context, mixed up and mixed in, overlapped or fused as if they were a collage of protagonists in her fiction.
She has exhibited in Santander, Salamanca, Barcelona, New York, Washington DC, Brussels, Warsaw and Lisbon. Her work is to be found in private and public collections in Spain, France and the USA.
